Architecture and Urban Plus

Architecture and Urban Plus is a distinguished firm specializing in architecture, interior design, planning, and community development, strategically headquartered in Kendari. Established in
September 2019 by the visionary Muh. Irsyad, AU+ has swiftly risen to prominence both nationally and internationally. This acclaim is a testament to our success in prestigious international competitions
and the execution of significant national projects, including the notable Grand Mosque of MBS in Yogyakarta, New Main Gate of Kendari and design Kendari Kalosara’s Roundabout.
At the core of Architecture and Urban+ lies a team of young, dynamic professionals. Our team is characterized by a blend of creativity and idealism, driven by a persistent quest to devise innovative
solutions for environmental and urban design challenges. Our approach is deeply rooted in a commitment to sustainable and responsive design principles, ensuring that each project we undertake
not only meets but exceeds our clients’ expectations.

We believe great design emerges from adaptability, not dogma. Rather than imposing rigid ideologies or stylistic trends, we prioritize relevance—crafting solutions that bridge disciplines, respond to unique challenges, and harmonize with their surroundings. Our work is fundamentally contextual: it must fulfill functional requirements, meet client expectations, and remain grounded in buildability.

Aesthetics, for us, are a dynamic exploration. We resist formulaic thinking, embracing each project as an opportunity to innovate while respecting its unique constraints and possibilities. Whether minimalist or expressive, traditional or avant-garde, our designs are guided by purpose, not preconception. Ultimately, our ambition is simple, to be the architects who can design anything, anywhere—so long as it’s purposeful, responsive, and undeniably beautiful. Because architecture isn’t just about buildings; it’s about solving problems with research based, creativity and precision, one context at a time

7 Design Principles

#1 Sustainability

Emphasizes designing products, services, and systems in a way that minimizes environmental impact and supports
the well-being of the planet. This involves using renewable resources, Low carbon materials, reducing waste, and
considering the entire lifecycle of the project to ensure it can sustainably exist within the Earth's ecological limits.

#2 Local Genius

Focuses on incorporating local knowledge, traditions, and resources into the design. By valuing the
unique aspects of a local context, such as cultural practices, materials, and climatic conditions,
designs can become more relevant, respectful, and adapted to their specific locations.

#3 Functionality

Emphasize the importance of creating designs that are practical and meet the intended needs
effectively. It's about ensuring every aspect of the design serves a purpose and enhances the user
experience, making the design not only aesthetically pleasing but also useful in a real-world context.

#4 Knowledge Base Decision

Involves grounding design decisions in solid research and evidence. It means understanding the
scientific, historical, and cultural contexts of a design challenge and using this information to inform
the design process. This approach leads to more informed, effective, and responsible designs.

#5 Human- Centric Design

Places the human experience at the core of the design process. It involves understanding and
empathizing with the users, considering their needs, limitations, and aspirations, and creating designs
that are accessible, intuitive, and enjoyable to use

#6 Innovation

Encourages pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box. It's about seeking new methods,
technologies, and ideas to solve design problems in novel ways. Innovation in design can lead to
breakthroughs that change how we interact with the world around us.

#7 Collaboration

Emphasizes the importance of working together across disciplines and perspectives to enhance the
design process. It involves sharing knowledge, ideas, and skills among a diverse group of people,
which can lead to more comprehensive and well-rounded design solutions. Collaboration recognizes
that complex problems often need varied viewpoints to be effectively addressed.

Triangle Concept

Quality vs Price
  • High Quality & High Price: Producing high-quality designs typically requires more time and resources, including advanced software, higher expertise, and skilled labor. This naturally increases project costs.
  • Low Quality & Low Price: Alternatively, budget-constrained designs may limit the use of advanced tools or reduce time spent on details, which can affect the final quality.
Quality vs Time
  • High Quality & Long Time: High-quality designs often require in-depth research, experimentation, and iterations. This takes time, and tight deadlines may compromise crucial aspects of design quality.
  • Low Quality & Short Time: On the other hand, quickly made designs may lack depth, innovation, or the details that make a design stand out.
Price vs Time
  • High Price & Short Time: Speeding up the design process often requires more resources, such as adding team members or using more expensive technology, which increases costs.
  • Low Price & Long Time: With a limited budget, completing a project may take longer due to resource constraints or the need to adapt to more economical solutions.
